Familiar With Magento or OpenCart? Write for Us!

As it relates to discussing tips, tricks, development, and discussion around content management systems, we've focused exclusively on WordPress for several years now. Though we have no plans to stop publishing the highest quality posts that we can centered around WordPress, we're looking to expand our offering.

Just as Envato recently revamped the look and feel of Tuts+, we are looking to do the same with our content.

What Type of CMS Content?

As much as we'd love to begin incorporating as many different articles and tutorials on all of the various content management systems that are currently available, we can't do it at all at once, so we're going to be starting on a couple of platforms and will then gradually add more over time.

To that end, we're looking to focus specifically on eCommerce content management solutions the first of which are:

  1. Magento
  2. OpenCart

Short, sweet, and to the point, right? Of course, this still raises a few questions.

What Should the Articles Cover?

As the articles, tutorials, and content centered around Magento and OpenCart should be thought of as comprehensive tutorials or series depending on the subject matter they cover.

Specifically, we're looking to start from the ground up with introductory material, and then we're looking to move forward from there. That is to say that we're looking to guide readers through what it takes to download the software, install it, configure it, and deploy it on their server.

Naturally, since this is eCommerce software, we're also looking for articles that help users get setup with selling their our products or products for their clients.

So if you're someone who is familiar with these two platforms, and are looking not only to help educate others and how to use said platforms, but also to make money while doing so, then please out our Write For Us page for more information, or just shoot a note from our content-pitch form.

What About WordPress?

We're not abandoning WordPress! In fact, our author team is as strong as ever and we've got a healthy backlog of great content planned for the next few months.

If you're looking to write about WordPress, we're always accepting applicants for the team; however, this author call is specifically targeting those who want to write about Magento or Open Cart.

What's The Pay?

  • $150 per tutorial for the first month.
  • $175 per tutorial from the second month onwards, with a pay review after six months.
  • $60 per Quick Tip
  • $300-$500 for “Premium” level tutorials/screencasts

So, assuming you submit an article a week, and one large tutorial or screencast per month, you can expect to make between $1000 – $1200 each month.
