WANTED: WordPress Professionals With a Passion for Education. Enquire Within.

Are you an experienced WordPress professional with a desire to educate others on standards and best practices? If so, we'd like to speak with you about writing for Wptuts+ 1-4 times per month. We'd like you to submit at least one article a month, and you're free to choose your topics, as long as they appeal to our audience. This is a paid job. If you're interesting in helping educate others in The WordPress Way, read on.

What We're Looking For

We're looking for experienced WordPress experts to write articles and tutorials each month to educate our readers. If you're not interested in making this a regular arrangement, but still want to contribute, we're also looking for individual article pitches.

Here are the job requirements:

  • Solid knowledge – Wptuts+ is highly respected and strives to promote the use of standards and best practices in WordPress development, and we expect the same high quality from you.
  • Excellent writing skills – You must be comfortable with the English language. We can proof your content but we can't rewrite everything for you. To put it simply, if you struggle when deciding whether to write its versus it's, or lets versus let's, this might not be the job for you.
  • Consistency – Professionalism is key. We expect you to keep the schedule we've agreed upon, and communicate openly with us.

Can I Pitch Individual Articles or Tutorials?

You certainly can! We're always reviewing individual article and tutorial pitches for the rates offered below. Check out our Write For Us page for more information about sending in individual tutorials and articles, or just fill in our content pitch form. Repeat authors will always receive preferential publishing status and higher overall article rates, but if you've just got one great idea that you want to share, send it our way!

What Are the Pay Rates?

  • $150 per tutorial for your first six tutorials.
  • $175 per tutorial from your seventh tutorial onwards, with a pay review after six months.
  • $60 per Quick Tip for your first three quick tips.
  • $75 per Quick Tip from your fourth quick tip onwards.
  • from $50 added on for tutorials that include screencasts.

Are You Looking for Any Special Topics?

You'll get extra consideration if you're able to focus on one (or a number) of the following topics:

  • How to use WordPress 3.5 upcoming features in development
  • Theme development from scratch
  • Plugin development from scratch
  • Unit testing and workflow techniques with WordPress development
  • In-depth standards, best practices, and other "WordPress Community" focussed articles

How to Get Started

Let's start with contact details. Send us the following information about you:

  • Name
  • A brief paragraph about you
  • Two links to articles that you've written about WordPress
  • Two pitches for tutorials you'd like to write for us
  • Emails with optional proposed submission dates for the two pitches will get more attention from us since this shows us you're serious
  • Preferential treatment (and higher pay) will be given to those who can record professional quality screencasts. There are guidelines on what we expect here on our Write For Us page too
  • If you're a ThemeForest or CodeCanyon author, please include your marketplace username also

Please email this information to wp[at]tutsplus.com. If you’ve already emailed us about this position in the past, please start fresh and email us again, just to be sure.

We get a lot of single line emails. This doesn't convince us you're a WordPress professional. Emails without the required information requested above will be discarded.

If you can't manage a weekly schedule and instead would like to submit every other week, that's fine with us too. Get in touch so we can work something out. We're pretty flexible if the fit is right.

We're looking forward to your email, so what are you still doing here? Get writing!
